Avery Taylor

What got you into music?

According to my mother, I started speaking at a very early age, and almost as soon I learned how to talk I quickly began trying to sing as much as I could. My relatives always played music around me when I was growing up. So I guess music is just a part of my DNA. As far back as I can remember, I’ve always been involved in some sort of performance. I love the stage, I love the spotlight, and I’ve always wanted to be a part of that life. Music has given me the opportunity to do that and so much more. I owe a lot to music because it has molded and shaped my life in more ways than I can count.

What’s your favorite band memory?

My favorite band memory would probably be the time we recorded “Never Again”. It was the first single after releasing “The Lies We Breathe” and it was just a very different experience from the previous time recording. We were in a new place as a band and things were really starting to come together for us in terms of finding our signature sound. I remember trying something different vocally when recording the bridge for that song and hearing my bandmate Dustin say “Avery, I don’t know what you just did but keep doing it!”, and from that moment on I knew exactly who I wanted to be in the band and what I wanted us to represent musically.

What’s your favorite food?

I live for good seafood and Hispanic foods. I love all things spicy and full of flavor. The juicier, the better!

Interesting fact about yourself?

I am 90% deaf in my right ear.

Favorite band?

My favorite band right now is a tie between Counterparts and Neck Deep. My favorite bands ever are a tie between Dance Gavin Dance and Emarosa.
